Liberia Missions Report

liberia_01.jpgWhat a joy for me to return to Liberia in March - to see a country once ravaged by war now showing signs of economic strength. It was wonderful to observe how our gracious and compassionate Lord is touching the hearts of the Youth of Liberia! From the high schools to the outdoor crusades, the message was the same: Jesus is Mighty to save - and they are hungry to hear it!

Patrice Armorer and I conducted general assemblies in high schools to encourage and challenge the students. What a blessing it was to see some of these same students at the crusades in the evenings. This was the first time ever in Liberia that a "completely youth focused crusade" took place. And it was well received! They came, first as a smaller crowd, but throughout the week the crowd grew larger and larger, until over 3,000 were approximated in the main crowds at the front of the stage on the Friday night. The nightly attendance approximated 2,200.  The beauty of this event was in seeing so many spectators on the streets and hillsides; sitting in their shops and homes; and young men sitting by trees pretending they were not listening; yet when the "salvation" call was given, they responded. You could see hands raised in the many surrounding areas, although the respondents were too many for counselors to tend to individually! A total number of 794 salvation decision sheets were turned into the response workers! What a Mighty God we serve!

liberia_02.jpgOne night, a young man walked off the streets, stood at the back and then pressed in at the altar time because he desperately needed healing. And God is Faithful to all who call on Him! The young man came to the platform at the end of the service to share his testimony which he declared in his own raw street language! He was so thankful to God, since the doctors had not been able to help him and he had been in such pain. He gave his heart to the Lord and declared he wants to go to Bible College and be able to minister to people about God because of his miraculous healing that night - many people knew his story. We're going to help him - he can reach people on the streets!

Dr. Irving Whitt preached powerfully in the Churches and conducted a week-long seminar for the pastors each afternoon with very timely messages. It was a joy for them to also have Irving, the PAOC Global Education Coordinator, visit the Liberia Assemblies of God Bible College - a work which desperately needs assistance.

After the incredible week of victories, and seeing the many changes and challenges in the aftermath of war, it is not surprising that the General Superintendent & Youth Director asked for a followup visit to continue the work with the youth. This nation is at a turning point - please pray for a Holy Ghost move upon this young generation as they rebuild. Liberians know for sure, that after war, the youth are the hope and the future of their nation!

Thank you for partnering with myself, Patrice and Dr. Whitt! The victories we saw are yours to share -so let's rejoice together.
